Universal Climate Control

In April of 2012 Scot and Todd Geisler went to lunch with Bryan Lawler of Universal Climate Control to hear all about a well-known heating, air conditioning, ventilation and sheet metal contracting company in the Coralville/ Iowa City area. After many meetings, Tom, Scot and Todd were able to finalize a deal and closed on the purchase of UCC on June 11, 2012. In less than 1 hour, UCC was up and running under new ownership and management. Scot moved to the Coralville area to manage the day to day operations while Todd stayed to manage Geisler Brothers.

UCC is one of the preferred contractors at the University of Iowa, U of I Hospitals and VA Veteran’s Affairs facility in Iowa City. During our time with UCC we have completed some very large, prominent projects in the area. Some of the projects recently completed are the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital, The Voxman Music Building, The Madison Street Elizabeth Catlett Residence Hall, the Hilton Garden Inn, the University of Iowa Seamen Center Engineering Building expansion, Kirkwood Community College Regional Center and major remodel projects at Washington and Jefferson High School in Cedar Rapids.

The acquisition of Universal Climate Control offered one thing, opportunity. There is now access to a market area that previously was not available. UCC and Geisler Brothers complement each other very well. We share resources and are still working towards universal standards at both places. UCC has a full CAD department with several draftsmen and with state of the art software and hardware, Geisler Brothers utilizes UCC for all their CAD needs.

We now have a 50,000 sq. ft. shop in Dubuque and Coralville. Having shared resources and multiple coil lines creates efficiencies for both companies. We have a truck that goes to Iowa City almost daily.
